Spiritual Questions and Answers with Radhanath Swami
Question to Radhanath Swami: I heard somewhere that without loving all the living beings we cannot love God. So I just wanted to know, what is the best possible way in which I can love and serve all the living beings?
Answer by Radhanath Swami: By loving God, Krishna. When you water the root of the tree every part of the tree is nourished by that water. So when we learn how to love God, naturally our love extends to every part of God, which is every living being.
Question to Radhanath Swami: How should we deal with people who clearly are out to cheat the world, clearly are more towards evil than good? What should be our attitude towards them?
Answer by Radhanath Swami: To a certain extent we have the power to change our environment. But ultimately it’s very limited; we may not be able to change the whole world or how people think or how people act or why people do what they do. Of course we can try our best to help, but there is one thing that we could always change and that’s ourselves.
Question to Radhanath Swami: Sometimes we go through a conflict between brain and heart. How to deal with it?
Answer by Radhanath Swami: We should harmonize our brain and heart with the word of God and with the will of lord. To understand the message of God is not easy. But by associating with people who are tuned in to understand the message of God and understand the Holy Scriptures….
Question to Radhanath Swami: What is your proposal to bring global peace?
Answer by Radhanath Swami: While we are trying to clean the environment externally, there is also a need for cleaning the ecology of the heart. If our actions are driven by arrogance, hatred, greed, egoism, there is no question of global peace….
Question to Radhanath Swami: It is said that we should always associate with selfless people, and that’s very critical. Then, how should we interact with the people who are selfish? As you say, we should also love them as they are also part of God. So, if we are surrounded by such people, how should we act?
Radhanath Swami: By being a good example. Of course, if those people open their minds and hearts for us to speak to them about higher virtues and higher truths in life….
Question to Radhanath Swami: When only in distress one is able to pray from the heart, otherwise those prayers spring from the mind, and are mechanical offered. Why is it so? Why only in distress does the mind shut down and allow us to pray from the heart?
Radhanath Swami: What you are talking about is sometimes human nature. But we should cultivate a higher standard.
