Question to Radhanath Swami: It’s said that the forces of good have to be united to fight the forces of evil. But we see that in today’s world, the forces of evil are united. What can be done in such a scenario?
Radhanath Swami: It is a fact that to be good in this world, to be God conscious in this world means to fight a war against evil. As soon as we want to do something good, as soon as we want to be spiritual, we’re on the battlefield. That’s why Bhagavad Gita was spoken on a battlefield, because to become a devotee of the Lord you have to fight a battle in this world. The fact is that the forces of illusion, lust, envy, anger, pride, and greed are so united; not only are they united, but they have huge forces. That is why we need the power of our own unity. And when that unity is born of the strength of the power of God, we can overcome all opposition. The more we understand the power of maya and how united she has her armies within this world, the more we realize that we have to truly humble ourselves, we have to truly pray to the Lord: “Let me just be a particle of dust on your lotus feet, then nothing can overcome me.” We have to be very humble and very united in order to truly take shelter of the higher power. And only that power can save us from the massive onslaught of the united forces of sin and illusion. We have to surrender, we have to take shelter with humility, and then all the power of God is there to protect us. But in order to do that we need association, we need to be unified together.
