Question to Radhanath Swami: What about those people who are not doing a single thing wrong in their whole life and still they are suffering?
Radhanath Swami: Life does not begin when you enter a body. The soul is eternal. If somebody is good, that means they are good in this life. So in the future they are going to have very good results. If they are suffering it’s obviously because they have engaged in unethical activities in the past; that may have been in previous lives.
While passing through life in this world, some people turn against us while so many people help us and become friends with us. This is a part of life determined according to our karmas. What’s happening to you now is due to actions of the past. Now, the purpose of human life is, irrespective of the situation you are in, you try to achieve your ideal.
Some of the greatest people in history achieved the greatest enlightenment in times of great sorrow. Rather than just being sentimental, they had a philosophical, scientific outlook of life. They didn’t think, “Why should I think of God with all these things going wrong?” The fact is we turned away from God and that’s why all these things are going wrong. The solution therefore is turning again towards God.
