Question to Radhanath Swami: What exactly is this humility?
Radhanath Swami: Humility really means honesty. Humility is about simply being truthful. What do we have to brag about? If God does not make the sun rise, what will you do? Did you create your brain? Did you create your eyes to see?
Question to Radhanath Swami: When we meet great souls the fire of bhakti is bright and clear in our hearts. But how can we keep that spark bright even when we are in the real world?
Radhanath Swami: We eat to gain strength. And it’s not that you just eat on Monday and comeback the next Sunday to eat again
Question to Radhanath Swami: According to the Bhagavad Gita we are not the doers. Whatever is done is done by Lord Krishna. Then why are we affected by laws of karma?
Radhanath Swami: We can’t do anything without God’s help. We cannot see or even breathe without God’s help. So how could we take credit for what we do?
Question to Radhanath Swami: How exactly does this chanting of God’s holy names work?
Radhanath Swami: It begins by regular chanting, like treatment begins with regular intake of medicines. And then we try to go deeper into the holy name by living according to the qualities of a true devotee.
Question to Radhanath Swami: I wanted to know whether this world is real or is an illusion?
Radhanath Swami: The world is real but your conception of the world is an illusion. For example, if you mistake a snake to be a rope, that’s an illusion. You may pick it up and tie it around your throat, but when you get bitten by it, that’s not illusion.
Question to Radhanath Swami: Suppose a fisherman is catching the fish and selling it in the market to maintain his family. Do you think he is doing some sinful activities?
Radhanath Swami: Rather than talking about what’s sinful, we will just speak of the science of how the world works.
